Do You Have A Bad Haircut?

Face facts

If you’ve had a bad experience with your hair style, chances are that you’ve been given a hair cut that just doesn’t suit. A flattering cut can enhance your face shape and features, highlight your good points and minimize your bad ones. To ensure that you know what your face shape is, pull your hair back and study yourself in a mirror. If you’re still unsure, try outlining your reflection on the mirror with eyeliner! When you’ve decided your face shape, don’t forget to take a look at the shape of your head. You’ll also need to consider head size, neck length and width of shoulders. You need to try and aim for balance and don’t forget to consider your clothes too!

Oval – You’re lucky if you’re blessed with this face shape as it’s the easiest of all to suit. Facial features and hair texture permitting, you should be able to try any style.
Round – Choose a hair style that shapes hair onto the cheeks to shade them and narrow down the sides. A feathery look is more flattering than a flat sleek style. Avoid styles that lie flat against the head, draw hair tightly back, have a solid fringe or are extremely short — these all work to emphasis its width. Counteract roundness by creating the illusion of length and adding height on top. Also good are side partings, and light textured fringes.
Long – For the most flattering look choose styles that shorten your face; a fringe works well and a cut that skims the chin may help to add width. Avoid a long, straight bob which will just work to lengthen the face. Curls, waves and scrunching hair also work well. Avoid height on top or straight lines.
Square – Soften your face with cuts that add curves, avoid anything geometric or too short. Avoid square styles such as straight bobs, or anything angular. Likewise don’t go for too much softness. A rounded
Heart-shaped – Suits most styles. Increase your style at the forehead and cheekbones where the face is the widest. Add more volume to the bottom of the face with flicks or volume at the end of a bob. Styles that are relatively flat to the side of the head but layered onto the face are also a good choice. Width at the chin and height on top helps to add balance.
