Choosing a hairstyle isn’t done easily because you can’t choose a hairstyle that looks good on someone else’s head. Don’t deny it, I’m pretty sure everyone (even you) have gone, “Oh I want that hairstyle,” after seeing a certain hairstyle on someone else’s head. The thing is, even though that hairstyle looks nice on that person, it won’t necessarily be nice on yours because of the fact that everyone has different face shapes. Also, choosing a hairstyle isn’t really just about the shape of the face complimenting your hairstyle (and vice versa), it is also about your personality. Meaning, your hairstyle must also show your personality like if you’re a punk/rock music lover, you might want really unique hairstyles. Hence, when choosing a hairstyle, you must take note of your face shape and personality (meaning, what you’re like or what you would want – originality maybe?).
When choosing a hairstyle, you need to know what kind of shape your face is, you need to measure your face. Firstly, use a measuring tape or a ruler and measure your face across the top of your cheekbones. Secondly, measure your jawline from the widest point to the widest point. Thirdly, measure across your forehead at the widest point – generally the widest point will be somewhere between your eyebrows and your hairline. Then the last step would be to measure from the tip of your hairline to the bottom of your chin. Lastly, don’t forget to write down all the measurements if not you will have to do this steps again.
From the experiment (steps) on choosing hairstyles above, you should now be able to tell what kind of face shape you have. Whether your face shape is oval, rectangular, oblong, round, square, heart, triangular or diamond.
An oval shape face shape will give you the chance to wear practically any hairstyle from long to medium to short length. For a rectangular or oblong face shape, short or medium hairstyles will be best for this type of face shape and adding bangs (fringe) would make your face look softer and gentler. The best hairstyle for a round face shape should be short hairstyles that are swept back away from the face as it adds more fullness and height at the crown. For square face shapes, short to medium hairstyles is nice and they (those that have square face shapes) should stay away from straight long hairstyles. Heart shape faces should wear hairstyles that are either chin length or long hairstyles but short hairstyles should be avoided. For a triangular face shape, it is the exact opposite of the styles that should be for heart shape faces. Lastly the diamond shaper face is as great to have as an oval because you can wear short, medium and long hairstyles and still look stunning.
However, do not forget about your personality when choosing a perfect hairstyle. For example, if you’re into sports activities, you wouldn’t want to have a long hairstyle that would be hard to manage (if not taken properly cared of) while you’re doing your activity. Hence, personality also becomes a factor in choosing your hairstyle.
